Summary Work is progressing well on a new £25 million swimming pool and leisure facility to be used by British swimmers leading up to the London Olympics in 2012. Leadbitter have been on site since the beginning of the year and expect to complete by the end of 2009. The new centre will include a 50m swimming pool, health and fitness suite, gym, sports hall, changing facilities, café, offices and reception area.
*The main pool for London 2012, the 'Aquatics Centre', will be constructed by Balfour Beatty. Designed by architect, Zaha Hadid, and costing £242 million Balfour Beatty expect to start on site in the next few months.
